Let it Grow

Mustard seeds are one of the smallest seeds, but when planted can grow up to 20 feet tall and 20 feet wide. The mustard tree can grow in most any type of climate and can withstand extreme conditions. I want that kind of faith. One that is strong, no matter the conditions. I remember when I was a little girl, my mom had a necklace with a heart shaped glass pendant that had a mustard seed in it. Whenever I saw it, it made me think about this story in the bible.

Matthew 17:19-21 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” 20 And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. 21 But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

In this scripture, Jesus has just healed a demon possessed boy. The father came to Jesus, because he had called on the disciples to drive the demon out and they couldn't. That led to the question posed to Jesus by the disciples in verse 19. Why couldn't we do it? Jesus replied, "because of the littleness of your faith". One definition the Webster dictionary gives for faith, is complete trust. What an amazing view of faith. What does our littleness of faith say about us? That we have yet to have COMPLETE trust in God? Jesus proceeds to tell the disciples that if they have the faith the size of a mustard seed, they can move mountains and nothing is impossible. Who wouldn't want that kind of faith? What does God ask of us to obtain that type of faith; Complete surrender and hunger for his presence. When I thought about this necklace, I remembered how small the seed was and the case it was in. God doesn't want us to keep our faith contained. It's easy to say we have faith, but putting it into action is another story. That mustard seed, that begins so small, will never grow to be the strong plant it could if not planted and caused to grow. God knows, just like that mustard plant, that we as his children can withstand harsh conditions as long as our faith is in him. God desires that his glory be shown to all. The storm may be strong but his glory will shine greater!!! Don't limit your faith today. Don't say to God, "I will if...", "When this happens I will..." LOOSE YOUR FAITH TODAY! Take that mustard seed out of the pendant and let it grow!!! Plant yourself deep in God's word, trust him COMPLETELY!!! Nothing is impossible with our GOD. My family is a testimony to that. Let people see how great God is through your life. LIVE OUT LOUD!!!
