The Unbelieving Believer

Ya’ll, this one has been sitting with me for a while.
Am I believing in God, but not fully believing what He can do?
Not just believing He exists but believing in His power, believing in what He’s already done, believing in what He’s still able to do and believing in the power He’s placed inside of me through the Holy Spirit.
Because if I’m honest, sometimes we say we believe, but our lives tell a different story.
Think about commercials or social media for a minute. When someone tells you to try a product, there’s an expectation, right? We assume they’ve used it themselves. We want to see the results. We want proof that it actually works.
People are watching our walk of faith the same way. They’re not just listening to what we say they’re watching how we live. They’re watching how we pray or if we pray. They’re watching how we respond when things don’t go our way. They’re watching whether we actually trust God when life gets hard.
And here’s the hard question: Does my walk reflect what I say I believe?
If we believe in prayer, we should be praying. If we believe in the miraculous, then we should actually expect God to move. If we believe in His power, then we should be operating in the power of the Holy Spirit.
So why is it that sometimes our walk doesn’t reflect our belief?
Somewhere along the way, many of us have learned how to talk “faith” without fully living faith. We say the right things. We quote the verses. We know the church language. But when it comes time to trust God beyond what we can explain or control, we hesitate.
And that’s where faith quietly shifts from God’s power to human wisdom.
But Scripture is clear about where our faith should come from…
I Corinthians 2:5 says,
“That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
People aren’t drawn to a faith that looks safe, comfortable, and contained. They’re drawn to a faith that’s real and courageous. A faith that leans fully on God. A faith that still believes He heals, restores, provides, and moves mountains.
If the people around us never see us trusting God fully, why would they desire to trust Him themselves?
This world doesn’t just need people who just believe in God, it needs believers who live like His power is active, present, and real… RIGHT NOW!
This isn’t about guilt or condemnation, ya’ll. This is an invitation. An invitation to move from head knowledge to heart trust. From saying “I believe” to living like God is who He says He is.
Because the truth is, God hasn’t changed. His power hasn’t diminished. His promises haven’t expired.
So the question isn’t whether God is able, the question is whether we are willing to live like we believe He is.
And that, my friends,
is something worth praying about.
